A man in a stolen vehicle jumped out of the car and ran away from a Sheriff’s Deputy Thursday, April 11 in McKinleyville. However, the deputy got a good look at the suspect and was able to identify him. He’s now a wanted man,
At about 12:30 a.m. Thursday, a deputy was patrolling on Central Avenue near Murray Road when he saw a 1997 green Honda Civic driving erratically.

The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle which immediately sped up and turned onto Reasor Road and was headed westbound.
The deputy initiated a brief pursuit of the vehicle which turned into an apartment complex on Reasor Road where the road dead ended.
The driver immediately jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. The deputy was able to get a good look at the driver when he exited the vehicle. The deputy pursued the driver on foot, but lost him as he fled into the field behind McKinleyville High School.
A DMV computer check on the vehicle revealed the California license plate on the Honda was reported stolen. The plate was reported stolen to Arcata Police on April 1. When the deputy checked the vehicle identification number on the vehicle he discovered the Honda was reported stolen from Medford, Oregon on March 31.
A search of the Honda revealed property in the name of Brian Coffman. The deputy looked at a recent Humboldt County Correctional Facility booking photo of Brian Coffman and saw it was the person driving the stolen Honda fled on foot.
A warrant check of Coffman revealed there is a felony warrant for his arrest for possession of methamphetamine and a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest for possession of concentrated cannabis. He is also on formal felony probation for possession of methamphetamine and is on misdemeanor probation.
A Be-on-the-Lookout was placed for Coffman who is wanted for possession of the stolen vehicle, violation of probation and resisting arrest, besides the arrest warrants.
Brian Andrew Coffman is described as follows: 27-year-old white male adult, 6’ tall, 140 lbs, brown hair, blue eyes. He was last seen on foot near Reasor Road, McKinleyville. He is from the McKinleyville/Arcata area.
